NPR's Tiny Desk Contest is back on the road in 2026! Join us this summer as we travel across the country for a one-of-a-kind concert, featuring the Contest winner plus two up-and-coming artists from each city.
This year's winner is Cure For Paranoia, the genre-bending project of Dallas-based rapper Cameron McCloud and friends, a dynamic group whose music is playful and political. McCloud started Cure For Paranoia to share the therapeutic experience that "creating music with his people" offered him. A pre-school teacher by day, he posted a new rap every day on social media for all of 2025
Opening acts to be announced soon!
We are so excited to welcome back GUNK, this time outdoors! GUNK stands for all-girls funk band. They are an 8-piece band and draw inspiration for their music from the original Motown girl groups of the 1950's and 60's. Building from there, they add our own flare on pop songs such as "Havana" by Camila Cabello, classics like "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor, and favorites like the Spice Girls, Amy Winehouse and Abba’s “Dancing Queen.” They play around with the soul/funk/Motown/R&B sound of girl groups, sprinkle in some pop tunes, add a funky bass line and guitar riff, and there you have it... GUNK.Be prepared for a really fun evening.
Out There: A National Parks Story follows a young filmmaker and his childhood friend on a 10,000-mile road trip through America's national parks during the centennial of the National Park Service. What begins as a search for awe-inspiring landscapes evolves into a deeper journey that uncovers the human stories embedded in these wild places.
Along the way, they meet rangers, conservationists, and everyday visitors whose lives have been shaped by the parks. Through personal stories of healing, transformation, and connection, a rich tapestry of the national park experience begins to emerge. One that reflects not just the beauty of the land, but the spirit of the people who love and protect it.
Blending stunning cinematography with archival travelogues, posters, and maps, Out There is both a tribute to the enduring legacy of the parks and a call to recognize the human presence that gives them meaning. It invites us to see these places not just as landscapes, but as living stories, reflecting on our own role in their preservation.
This exhibition examines depictions of the American flag through 75 works by a diverse group of artists, beginning during WWI with Childe Hassam’s Italian Day, May 1918 and continuing to the present day, including a textile sculpture commissioned for the show from Maria de Los Angeles. The exhibition includes work in a variety of media by artists including Jasper Johns, Faith Ringgold, Robert Rauschenberg, Shepard Fairey, and Julie Mehretu, and challenges viewers to consider who the American flag truly represents and whether justice is available to all.

Guilford Art Center Gallery presents “Walking Each Other Home: Exploring Where We Belong, and How We Find It,” a new exhibition featuring the work of 78 artists from Connecticut, the surrounding region, and beyond. Inspired by the beloved Ram Dass quote, “We’re all just walking each other home,” the exhibition invites artists to reflect on the many ways we experience and define the idea of home.
“Walking Each Other Home” will be on view in the Guilford Art Center Gallery from July 1 - August 1, 2026. A closing reception will be held on Saturday, August 1 from 2PM - 4PM and is free and open to the public.
Home can be a physical place - a house, a landscape, or a community - but it can also be something we create through relationships, memories, care, and shared experiences. Through a wide range of artistic perspectives, the artists in this exhibition explore how a sense of belonging is shaped by the places we inhabit, the histories we carry, and the people who influence our lives.
“I've always been drawn to Ram Dass' reflection that 'we're all just walking each other home'”, says Ashley Seneco, Education Coordinator at Guilford Art Center. “While the quote speaks to our shared journey through life and the inevitability of its ending, what resonates most with me is the idea that none of us makes the journey alone. We accompany one another at every degree of interaction, shaping each other's sense of belonging along the way. I wanted this exhibition to leave room for every interpretation of home: as a place, an identity, or a relationship. My hope is that these works remind us that while every artist's definition of home is unique, the desire to belong is something we all share.”
Guilford Art Center Gallery exhibitions are free and open to the public. Gallery Hours: Monday-Saturday, 10am-4pm; Sunday 12-4pm.For more information, visit www.guilfordartcenter.org.
